Barasch McGarry Law Firm

Barasch McGarry, a national personal injury law firm, retained Butler Associates to build its media presence and draw attention to its various practices, most specifically its advocacy for members of the 9/11 first responder community, ill as a result of their exposure to Ground Zero toxins. Prior to our representation, the firm lacked a regular media presence, despite its involvement in major cases and the representation of NYPD Detective James Zadroga, the first person whose death was linked to 9/11 toxins.

Butler Associates was recently recognized by the Public Relations Society of America– NY  for our work for Barasch McGarry, winning the industry’s Best Legal Marketing and Communications Campaign for 2020, 2019, and 2018!

The Butler team developed an evolving media and communications strategy centered on establishing the firm’s managing partner as the preeminent advocate for the 9/11 community. Our successful messaging focused on students who attended school near Ground Zero and those working on Wall Street diagnosed with rare cancers, including male breast cancer.

These strategies have resulted in more than 500 news stories published or broadcast nationally, opinion page editorials from the firm’s leadership, and important introductions to leaders who represent thousands of workers and families impacted by the attacks.

Working with Butler Associates, Barasch McGarry quickly became recognized for its staunch advocacy on behalf of the 9/11 community, appearing in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, USA Today, the New York Post, the New York Daily News, the Daily Mail, Metro US, amNY, Newsday, The Hill, and the Associated Press, on Fox News, PBS, NY1, CBS 2 New York, NBC 4 New York, Fox 5 New York, ABC 7 New York, and PIX 11 New York, and on WNYC (New York), 1010WINS (New York), WCBS 880 (New York), and 850 WFTL (Florida).

These media appearances have directly generated an enormous surge in new referrals to Barasch McGarry, which now represents an estimated 40 percent of individuals with 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) claims. Calls from potential clients increased tenfold in the weeks after Mr. Barasch and clients appeared on Fox 5 New York’s morning program, “Good Day New York” and other, equally-visible news programs.

Our results have positioned our client at the apex of their legal market.
